Overview
Bookmarked is a reading tracker for private shelves, book release alerts, author and series follows, catalog requests, and optional library imports. We collect the information needed to provide those features. We do not sell personal information and we do not use advertising tracking.
Information We Collect
- Account information, including your email address and user ID.
- Optional profile information, such as your display name and reading goal.
- Reading data you create in the app, including shelf status, started dates, finished dates, followed books, followed authors, followed series, and alert preferences.
- Catalog request data, including requested titles, authors, series, notes, and related status information.
- Optional library import data from CSV files you choose to upload, such as title, author, shelf status, and read dates.
- Push notification registration data, including a push subscription ID, device platform, and timezone.
- Search queries for zero-result catalog searches so missing catalog items can be understood and improved.
- Technical data produced by normal API and hosting operations, such as request logs, error details, and timestamps.
- Diagnostic data from the app, including crash reports, error details, device model, and operating system version. When an error occurs, our error monitoring also captures a visual reconstruction of the screens leading up to the error, with on-screen text and images masked.
How We Use Information
- Authenticate your account and keep your session active.
- Sync your private shelf, alerts, subscriptions, and profile.
- Send release alerts and related push notifications when enabled.
- Process library imports and catalog requests.
- Maintain security, debug issues, and keep the service reliable.
- Improve the catalog and request flow.
Push Notifications
If you enable notifications, Bookmarked registers your device with our push notification provider and stores the push subscription ID needed to deliver release alerts. You can disable notifications in iOS settings, and you can pause or remove alerts inside the app.
Library Imports
You may choose to upload a Goodreads, StoryGraph, or compatible CSV export. Bookmarked uses the file to match catalog books and update your shelf. We retain the resulting shelf records and unmatched request metadata needed to provide the import flow.
Third-Party Service Providers
Bookmarked shares limited personal data with service providers that operate the app on our behalf, in the following categories: cloud database hosting, application and API hosting, push notification delivery, error monitoring and diagnostics (including the masked error replays described above), transactional email delivery, website hosting and content delivery, and app distribution and beta testing through Apple.
These providers process personal data only to provide their services to Bookmarked, and any third party that receives user data is required to protect it to the same or an equal standard as described in this policy.
Book titles, covers, and other catalog content are ingested from public catalog data sources by our servers. Catalog sources do not receive any personal data about you.
Data Retention And Deletion
Bookmarked keeps account and app data while your account is active. You can delete your account in Settings. Account deletion removes your authentication identity and local app data associated with your account. Diagnostic data such as crash reports and error replays is retained for up to 90 days. Some operational logs or backups may remain for a limited period where needed for security, debugging, or legal compliance.
You can also request a copy of the personal data associated with your account, or ask us to correct or delete it, by contacting us at the address below.
Security
We use standard transport security for production traffic and rely on established providers for authentication, database hosting, and notification delivery. No method of transmission or storage is perfect, but we work to keep the data collected by Bookmarked limited to what the product needs.
Where Data Is Processed
Bookmarked is operated from the United States, and the service providers described above process data in the United States. If you use Bookmarked from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed there.
Children's Privacy
Bookmarked is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy as Bookmarked changes. The latest version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
